summer motivation

Are you having a hard time working out in the Summer?  Think just because you did not make your goals, you'll start back up in the Fall.  Well remember it's never to late to start from day one, and well it's never to late to pick yourself up, accept the facts & push forward.  What I do when I feel like Summer is my vacation and I start to lose motivation, I set small obtainable goals that I write down and make them fun and interesting.

Or I plan for a vacation that will NOT require me to wear a sweat suit, so I have to get it together. I could be going to a friends pool party, or to the beach, doesn't matter.  It's a plan that I know in my head - I need to keep it together for the Summer and continue to have my goals in site.

Tips I use that help:

1. My gym schedule (actually has a schedule).  I make myself workout at least five times a week by adding fun activities to the mix.  Even if it's 30 minutes a day, or 60 minutes a day of fun classes.  I get it done.

2. Take this time to enjoy some recovery classes, such as Yoga.  Summer Yoga is refreshing, energizing and helps you reflect on what you really want and rejuvenates you for the upcoming seasons.  Since these classes are not hard core cardio classes, I challenge myself to get better - more flexibility, improve my balance technique, control my breathing and learn how to di-stress and relax.

3. Stay conscious.  Just because it's summertime, your goals have not changed - keep your goals near & be aware of the changes in your body, attitude, motivation and make sure you NEVER loose that drive to keep pushing forward. Ask your friends to help you stay conscious, and make it a Summer of healthy, cool refreshing ideas (such as swimming, walking and site seeing, riding bikes, etc).

4. Last but not least, I like to keep my fitness family near me. I grab my friends, we motivate each other and commit to classes together.  I have the benefit of teaching these classes, but I enjoy taking other classes with my friends to make my experiences not always about work, but about bonding and commitment to myself to stay healthy.

Tell me some of the interesting things you do to keep yourself motivated.  I'd love to hear from you?
